International Festival of Fools held annually at Muncaster Castle
Peter Frost Pennington greets Paolo to the Festival Muncaster Castle is the historic home of Tom Foole, the man that was beloved enough to get his name into the English language! The Pennington family has owned this castle for over 800 years and has recently restored the tradition of appointing an official court jester. International buskers, street and variety performers gravitate to Muncaster to compete in this weeklong festival of funniness. After shows throughout the week, there is a final competition --the winner gets free beer for a year and the title of Official Jester of Muncaster Castle.
This film documents the experience of one of this year's competitors, Paolo Garbanzo, as he travels and performs in England for the first time.
